We decided to head to higher elevations in hopes of seeing more colorful fall foliage. We headed out to the scenic highway via Richwood, stopping along the way at Hills Creek Falls. We walked down to the second falls and enjoyed a beautiful walk.

We started up the scenic highway and stopped at most of the overlooks and also along the road. We didn’t have time to complete the trail to High Rocks but definitely hope to go back there when we have more time. Foliage was colorful, though not as vivid as we remember it from other autumns.

We turned off the highway to see the Williams River. We don’t recall noticing it so close to the scenic highway before but it must have been there! We explored that area which we want to go back to and possibly camp at the Tea Creek Campground. There are several interesting hiking trails there as well.

We continued on to the cabin after leaving the scenic highway. We ate lunch and sat in the sun for a few minutes and then Joyce drove over Point Mountain so Gayle could enjoy the scenery.

In Webster Springs, we explored Lovers Lane Boardwalk, driving out still another one lane road to find it. It was pretty cool and as we left we found a way to get on it near the courhouse. We also encountered people and dogs so aren’t too sure we actually would get on the trail near the courthouse.

We drove back to Joyce’s arriving after dark.
